Is abortion murder?
Attack on unborn

There is now deep concern about the horror of abortion that has become part of the culture of our nation.  Each working day, around 700 babies are aborted.  Since the Abortion Act was enacted in 1968 around 6 million babies have been aborted in the UK.  It is our intention to highlight the true nature of abortion, in order that the number of abortions made be reduced.  We pray that as more people become aware of the true nature of abortion so there will be pressure on the Government to change the abortion law.  We believe that the life of the unborn child, precious in God's sight, should have the full protection of the law.

The most recently published abortion statistics again show a rise in the numbers.  Total abortions have risen by 4,000 in the last 12 months.  What is particularly disturbing is that there has been a 6% rise in the number of abortions in girls under 14.

It is not difficult to see that promoting contraception and emergency contraception among school children has not led to a reduction in abortion.  Moreover, Christian Crisis abortion counselling centres do not appear to have reduced the growing demand for abortion.

A recent book by Dr ES Williams, What is going on in Christian Crisis Pregnancy Counselling? shows that CARE's network of counselling centres are based in situation ethics, providing non-judgemental, non-directive counselling.  This means that women are not told that abortion is wrong and against God's moral law.  Instead a pregnant woman is invited to make a decision that she feels comfortable with, a decision that she can live with.

LIFE claims that non-directive, non-judgmental abortion counselling, based on the psychological approach of Carl Roger is pro-life. Our booklet, published in May 2007, shows that LIFE's abortion counselling is no different from that of any pro-choice organisation. Is LIFE really pro-life?
